“in the doldrums” [depression]

to be “in the doldrums” refers to being depressed or unmotivated, it’s in reference to when sailboats are near the equator and can enter phases where there is no wind for long periods of time. In this episode I discuss my past experiences with depression and what my thought process was during those times as well as the things I’ve noticed about our thought patterns during depressive states. “pushing the envelope/limit” [expansion]

To “push the envelope” means to go beyond the normal limits of something. It was first coined in aviation practice in reference to when pilots would go beyond the safe operating limits of a plane, aka the “envelope.” Often we rely on external limitations and norms to help define ourselves and what we are capable of, but I say most of that is bullshii. In this episode, I discuss some issues I have with rule following and how to start redefining your limits in order to find true purpose, fulfillment, passion, and joy in life. “let your hair down” [insecurity]

to “let your hair down” often refers to relaxing, letting loose, and allowing yourself to feel more comfortable, but I think there’s a bit more nuance to this phrase. In this episode, I discuss an insecurity that ruled over me for most of my life, my curly hair. Oftentimes we overestimate how much other people are going to notice our insecurities or have a negative opinion of us, but I’ve once we start to realize that changing our mindsets will change our insecurities, we unlock a freedom to be ourselves. this podcast is more than a passion project for me. it represents an example of growth, creativity, inspiration, and purpose. my hopes and dreams are constantly evolving, but my intention for this podcast is to encourage us all to focus on what truly sets us ablaze and gives us purpose, passion, and most of all, prosperity.
