Detroit rapper Danny Brown [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/danny-brown-mn0001477553] embraced his unique hood/hipster personality, took full advantage of social media, and -- fueled by his experiences with drug dealing and drug-taking, as well as a wicked sense of humor -- has delivered some of the most vivid, vulgar, and side-splitting rhymes of his era. The eccentric's most notable releases include the Billboard 200 Top 20 entry Old [https://www.allmusic.com/album/old-mw0002578388] (Fool's Gold, 2013) and the Warp-released albums Atrocity Exhibition [https://www.allmusic.com/album/atrocity-exhibition-mw0002973172] (2016) and uknowhatimsayin¿ (2019), projects bolstered by production from the likes of Paul White [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/paul-white-mn0002141768], Oh No [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/oh-no-mn0000886267], Black Milk [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/black-milk-mn0000956232], the Alchemist [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/the-alchemist-mn0000933978], and Q-Tip [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/q-tip-mn0000376613]. Brown [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/brown-mn0001477553] eventually found a home at Fool's Gold, where he issued XXX [https://www.allmusic.com/album/xxx-mw0002214914], his highest-profile mixtape up to that point. At the end of 2012, Brown [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/brown-mn0001477553] announced that the follow-up to XXX [https://www.allmusic.com/album/xxx-mw0002214914] had been recorded. Originally titled ODB, it was continually pushed back by the label, with Brown [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/brown-mn0001477553] tweeting in August 2013 that he would consider leaking the release. In October, the retitled album, Old [https://www.allmusic.com/album/old-mw0002578388], appeared with Paul White [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/paul-white-mn0002141768] and Oh No [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/oh-no-mn0000886267] among the producers, while A$AP Rocky [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/aap-rocky-mn0002772593] and ScHoolboy Q [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/schoolboy-q-mn0002634574] contributed guest verses. A surprise hit, it entered the Billboard 200 at number 18. After he provided the theme for the U.S. television sitcom Fresh Off the Boat, Brown [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/brown-mn0001477553] signed with Warp and made his label debut in 2016 with "When It Rain." The single's parent album, Atrocity Exhibition [https://www.allmusic.com/album/atrocity-exhibition-mw0002973172], was issued later in the year with White [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/white-mn0002141768] the principal producer, augmented by contributions from the Alchemist [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/the-alchemist-mn0000933978] and Black Milk [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/black-milk-mn0000956232], among others. In October 2019, a couple of months after the debut of his Viceland talk show Danny's House, Brown [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/brown-mn0001477553] returned with his second album for Warp, uknowhatimsayin¿, the majority of which was produced by Q-Tip [https://www.allmusic.com/artist/q-tip-mn0000376613].
