Squirrel Brain Stories is on location at the 3rd Annual Southern Oregon Human Trafficking Disruptors Summit, hosted by Architects of the New Paradigm and Disruptors.org. In Part 1, we begin our coverage of the summit’s first day, featuring conversations and presentations from survivors, advocates, prevention leaders, prosecutors, and community organizations working to confront human trafficking, child exploitation, and high-control abuse systems. This episode includes voices from the Sex Trade Survivor Caucus, Epik Project, SO Child Exploitation Team, Multnomah County Trafficking Prosecutor’s Office, Safer by the Minute, Prevention Now, You Belong, LLC, Rogue Valley Metaphysical Library, MMIW advocates, and the Indigenous Leaders Panel. The summit’s keynote speaker, Josie Heyano, helps set the tone for a day focused on awareness, prevention, survivor leadership, accountability, and practical community disruption of trafficking networks. This is Part 1 of a two-part summit series. Content Warning: This episode discusses human trafficking, child exploitation, sexual abuse, coercion, trauma, and survivor experiences.
