The name Daniel means "God is my Judge" or "God is my Judge and Defender." His name reflected the faithfulness that would characterise his entire life. Daniel was born in the Kingdom of Judah, likely around 620–615 BC. As a young teenager, he was taken captive to Babylon during the first Babylonian invasion of Jerusalem in 605 BC under King Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel would spend most of his life in exile, serving under several rulers and empires, including Babylon and Persia. His ministry spanned approximately 70 years, making him one of the longest-serving leaders in the Bible.
