Surf Report Tampa Florida
Good morning! Here's your Sunday surf zone forecast for West Central and Southwest Florida, brought to you by the National Weather Service Tampa Bay. Let's start up north in the Levy County area, where conditions are looking pretty mellow. You're looking at surf heights of one foot or less with a low rip current risk. The water's warming up nicely in the mid eighties, and you've got mostly sunny skies ahead with west winds at ten to fifteen miles per hour. High temps will reach the upper eighties. Just be aware that even with low rip current risk, those danger zones stick around near groins, jetties, and piers. Moving down the coast to the Pinellas and Hillsborough beaches around Clearwater and Saint Pete Beach, we're seeing a moderate rip current risk today. That means life-threatening rips are possible in the surf zone, so keep your eyes open out there. Again, one foot or less on the surf, mostly sunny skies, and slightly lighter winds at five to ten miles per hour. Water temps in the mid eighties, and it's going to be hot topside with highs in the upper eighties. The UV index is extreme, so sunscreen is absolutely essential. Down in Southwest Florida around the Lee and Charlotte County beaches like Sanibel and Captiva, conditions are even calmer with a low rip current risk. You've still got that one foot or less surf, but here the threat for thunderstorms is low, and winds are the lightest of the day at five to ten miles per hour. Temps are similar across the board, upper eighties for highs and mid eighties in the water. As we head into tonight, most areas will see moderate rip current risk developing, so that's something to note if you're planning an evening swim. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms possible in the northern zones, but the southern beaches should stay dry. Lows dip into the lower eighties. Winds stay light from the west. Monday shapes up to be another beautiful day across the region. Mostly sunny to sunny skies dominate, though the northern areas maintain that moderate rip current risk while the south stays low. Surf remains minimal at one foot or less, and winds pick up slightly to ten to fifteen miles per hour in some spots. Highs return to the upper eighties. The bottom line: fantastic beach weather all weekend with extreme UV conditions, so protect that skin. Water's gorgeous and warm, but respect those rip currents, especially near structures like piers and jetties. Have a great day at the beach!
