The Mist Analysis & Recap: Noir 36

From giant tentacled creatures and acid-webbing spiders to alien pterodactyls tearing people apart, The Mist is loaded with plenty of gruesome moments to satisfy any horror fan that Brandon hilariously breaks down through his usual dark humor. The Lovecraftian monstrosities are bad, but the biggest danger? A self-proclaimed prophet and her proselytizing. Godspeed! Is The Mist Worth Watching? | Brandon rates it a 3.5 out of 5 on Letterboxd (in line with its 3.4 average), with the lackluster and aged CGI being the film's biggest weakness. But despite its visual shortcomings at times, it remains a masterclass in tension, character, and thematic depth that horror and Stephen King fans alike shouldn't sleep on. A new adaptation is also in the works at Warner Bros., with Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Doctor Sleep) at the helm — and Flanagan has confirmed it will go in a completely different direction from the 2007 version.
