Description

In this heartfelt episode of The Addicted to God Pod, host Sarah Annie Schneider tackles the loneliness epidemic head-on and reveals why godly friendships and accountability partners are essential for our faith journey. Drawing from over a decade mentoring incarcerated women, her women's support groups, and personal experience, Sarah shares how to move from surface-level connections to the deep, sharpening relationships God designed us for—friends who love at all times, speak truth in love, and point us back to Jesus. Explore powerful Scriptures like Proverbs 18:24 ("a friend who stays closer than a brother"), Proverbs 27:17 ("as iron sharpens iron"), James 5:16 (confess sins and pray for healing), and more. Learn practical steps to find and nurture these life-giving bonds: pray boldly, take initiative with coffee or walks, join small groups or Bible studies, and embrace gentle restoration over shame. Sarah also addresses using people to fill God-sized voids, the priority of loving God first, and the anchor of Jesus—the friend who never fails. Rescued: One Woman's Sex & Porn Addiction Ep.18

She sat in a counselor's office after her husband confessed his porn addiction—and she wasn't angry. She wasn't threatening to leave, kick him out, or make him sleep on the couch. And the counselor noticed. What her husband didn't know—what no one knew—was that Andrea Sloma had been carrying the same secret for decades. Women don't talk about this. And that silence is exactly what keeps so many of them trapped. In this raw and redemptive episode of the Addicted to God Podcast, Andrea shares the story she kept hidden for years: a secret addiction to pornography and sex that she believed she could never tell anyone. When her husband came home from a men's retreat and confessed his own struggle, it cracked open a door she never thought she'd walk through. Through counseling, honesty, and the grace of God, both of them stepped into the light—and their marriage was not destroyed. It was transformed. If you've ever thought your secret is too shameful to speak out loud, or that God couldn't possibly redeem what you've done or what's been done to you—this episode is for you. Andrea's story is proof that what the enemy meant to use to destroy you, God can use to set you free. Recommended Books: Out of the Shadows: Understanding Sexual Addiction by Patrick J Carnes, Ph. episode Get Curious. Be Certain. Ep.16 artwork

Get Curious. Be Certain. Ep.16

"If you died today, how confident are you that you would be in heaven?" 0%? 50/50? 99%? Not sure? If your answer is anything less than 100%, this episode is for you. We start with urgency. In Luke 12, Jesus tells the story of a man who had everything - full barns, big plans, zero worries. God's response? "You fool. Tonight your life is required of you." None of us is promised tomorrow. That question isn't hypothetical - it's the most important one you'll ever answer. But this episode isn't just about eternity. It's about where to begin. I've spent the last decade mentoring women in jail — women who've tried everything to fill the emptiness and came up empty every time. The one thing that changed everything for them (and for me) was learning to approach the Bible not with pressure or performance, but with one simple word: curiosity. Think about how kids engage with the world. They don't approach a new thing with shame about what they don't know. They run toward it. They point. They ask every question. That's exactly how I want you to come to God's Word. In this episode, I teach you a practical five-question framework you can use with any Bible passage: 1. Who wrote this? 2. Who is it written for? 3. Why was it written? 4. What does it mean? 5. How does it apply to my life? Then we practice it together on John 3:16. Thirty-one words. Tattooed on arms, painted at football games, memorized by millions. But have you ever actually been curious about it? When you dig in, those thirty-one words contain a treasure map - and they have your name written all over them. Then we close the loop - all the way back to that opening question - with 1 John 5:11-13. John wasn't writing so you could hope you have eternal life. He wrote so you could know. If you've surrendered your life to Jesus, your answer is 100%. Full stop. Your eternity is not secured by your goodness - it's secured by His. If you're not there yet? You don't need fancy words or a church building. God hears you. God sees you. He knows exactly what your heart needs — and He's been waiting. This episode is for the woman who feels stuck, disqualified, or unsure where to start. It's for the person who's been saying "not yet."
