In the first episode in this series, we lay the historical backdrop of what lead up to the message Jesus gave beginning in Matthew chapter 5. Beginning with Alexander the Great we journey through time as we learn of the spread of Greek influence, the rise of Antiochus IV, the Maccabean revolt, the rise of the Sadducees, Pharisees, and Essenes, the emergence of John the Baptist, and the significance of the Beatitudes.
