Description

Currently, the CDC reports over 17,432 cases of Monkey Pox within the United States.  As the world continues to relax guidelines relates to Covid -19, we find ourselves  again up in arms about another virus.  Although  monkey pox does not appear to be life threatening to the same degree as Covid-19, it is highly contagious.  The Black Health Perspective spoke with Epidemiologist, Kendalyn Stevens.  What is an Epidemiologist? We took the opportunity to discuss monkey pox and its origins.   We will discuss medical mistrust within the black community that inhibits us from participating in medical research or engaging in appropriate medical care.

Direct Primary Care

Have you ever wondered is health care coverage possible without health insurance? Have you wondered exactly what does my health insurance cover and find yourself paying more in copays?  Do you desire a better personal relationship with your physician offering you more than 15- 20 minutes of time during a visit? Direct Primary Care may be a viable solution.   On this episode, we spoke with Dr. Jamal Lawrence of Harvest Health MD.  Dr. Lawerence provides a model of care that eliminates third party insurance carriers. His subscription based model of care allows him to focus on a more holistic approach to healthcare.  Offering his patient a more personal experience between provider and patient.     If you live in the Savannah, Georgia area and wish to learn more about direct primary care, you can contact Dr. Jamal Lawrence at Harvest Health MD https://harvesthealthmd.com/
