It's also the name of a long-distance collaboration between songwriters Anthony Dettori and Roz Pappalardo, who share Italian-Australian heritage and a love of spacious, earthy, alt-country storytelling. Lontano's approach melds different perspectives to unearth surprising new musical narratives, not completely autobiographical, but not fictional either - and always tethered to a shared insight about the physics of the human condition. And it's proving to be a highly productive partnership, with two successful albums and an unexpected recent QMA win under their belt.
