The Critical Path – Project Management & Leadership in Complex Environments
In this episode of The Critical Path, we explore servant leadership in project management and why it should not be confused with passive or overly accommodating leadership. A servant leader creates the conditions for the team to perform by providing clarity, removing obstacles, supporting effective decision-making and encouraging the early escalation of problems. Rather than becoming the centre of every decision, the project manager develops a team that can act with confidence, competence and accountability. Using the leadership approach demonstrated by former US Navy captain David Marquet, the episode explains how authority can be moved closer to the people who hold the most relevant information.
