Prayer Is More Than What We Say
From Abstract Prayer to Habitual Prayer
We must learn to pray by praying. At first glance, this sounds paradoxical. Prayer already feels abstract and elusive; to understand prayer through prayer itself seems even more difficult.
Let's talk about prayer today
Prayer is the easiest thing to do. You can pray anytime, anywhere, in any situation—just by closing your eyes. Yet, at the same time, prayer is also one of the most difficult things to do well.
How, Then, Should We Pray?
We must acknowledge that prayer is a difficult lesson to learn. The true purpose of prayer is to encounter God—to hear His teaching, receive His guidance, learn to love Him, and live in accordance with His design. Yet encountering God through what can feel like “talking to oneself” is not easy. As a result, we naturally long for some tangible sense that He is listening.
From Gravity to Grace: The Prayer God Hears
Whenever I read the account of the tax collector’s prayer in Luke 18, I find it deeply thought-provoking, because it reveals the true nature of prayer. The tax collector’s prayer was accepted by God because, with a broken and contrite heart, he cried out for mercy.
