Betty Wampler- Sitting At The Feet Of Jesus
Loving God Completely and Loving People Deeply
Before God asked for affection, He asked for attention. Mark 12:28-34 Have you ever found yourself going through the motions of religious routine without experiencing real intimacy with God? In Mark 12:28-34, Jesus reminds us that loving God completely and loving people deeply are the most important commandments. Before God asks for our affection, He asks for our attention. Our love for God begins with listening. Just like Israel was told to "hear, O Israel" before being asked to love, we must first surrender ourselves to God's voice. This means identifying what has captured our hearts and attention and removing any competing loves that distract us from God. To live out the greatest commandment, we must make loving God a priority in every aspect of our lives. Our love for God should overflow into love for our neighbors, showing them the same love we have for ourselves. Let's not settle for religious routine but pursue real intimacy with God. Let's love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love our neighbors as ourselves. Take time to listen to God, surrender to His will, and show love to those around you. Love doesn't wait to be loved—it acts first. Let's live out the greatest commandment in our daily lives and be a reflection of Christ's love to the world.
Pressure Reveals the Real You
When earthly pressure rises, heavenly perspective matters most. Mark 12:13-27 Have you ever felt the pressure of life squeezing you, revealing your true self? In this week's sermon, we saw how Jesus responded to intense pressure with wisdom, calmness, and eternal perspective. When faced with tricky questions about taxes and marriage in heaven, Jesus didn't react emotionally but rooted His responses in God's Word and power. In Mark 12, Jesus teaches us to respond with wisdom, stay rooted in Scripture, live with an eternal perspective, and value truth over human approval. Just like Jesus, we are called to stay calm and steady under pressure, reflecting the image of God in all situations. As we navigate the pressures of our daily lives, let's remember to pause before reacting, speak with truth and grace, and keep our focus on heavenly things. Let's strive to root ourselves in God's Word and power, shaping our thinking more than culture does. Let's commit to living like Jesus, responding to pressure with wisdom and eternal perspective. May we reflect the image of God in all we do. Join us in embracing a heavenly perspective in the midst of earthly pressures. #PressureRevealsTheRealYou #ReflectingGodsImage
Who’s in Charge Here?
We all want a Savior, but do we want a Lord? Mark 11:27-33- 12:12 Have you ever questioned who's really in charge in your life? In Mark 11:27-33-12:12, Jesus challenges the religious leaders about His authority, sparking reflection on our own surrender to Him. Jesus' authority is undeniable, seen in His teaching, power over evil, sin, and creation. He is Lord over all. Surrendering our sin, plans, control, worries, and more to Jesus is how we let Him lead as Lord. It's not about losing freedom, but finding true freedom in His authority. Just like the parable of the tenants, how we respond to Jesus determines our destiny. So, who's in charge in your life? Reflect on where you withhold authority from Jesus. Are you seeking Him as Savior but not as Lord? Let Jesus save you and lead you. Surrender to His authority and watch how He transforms your life. Take an authority audit. Identify areas where Jesus isn't fully in control and invite Him to reign. Let Jesus be not just your Savior, but your Lord. Trust that His authority brings true freedom and fulfillment. Will you let Him lead today?
The Tree, The Temple, and The Test.
From fruitless trees to prayerless temples, Jesus is after a life that actually produces. Mark 11:12-25 Have you ever felt like you're going through the motions but not producing any real fruit in your life? In Mark 11:12-25, Jesus shows us the importance of bearing fruit and having a fruitful relationship with Him. Just like the fig tree that looked alive but was spiritually empty, we must ensure that our lives are not just showing leaves but producing real fruit. Jesus didn't just cleanse the temple; He came to replace empty religion with fruitful relationship. This means removing doubt, bitterness, and unforgiveness from our hearts to make room for grace and love to flourish. So, what's holding back your prayer life? Doubt, tables of distraction, silence, unforgiveness? It's time to remove those rotten tomatoes from our backpacks and allow forgiveness to lighten our burdens. Let's reflect on our own lives: What's our mountain of prayer need? What has ended or proved fruitless? Who do we need to forgive? What tables need to be flipped in our hearts? As we meditate on these questions, let's commit to deepening our relationship with God and producing fruit that glorifies Him. Let's take action today to remove anything hindering our prayer life and embrace the fruitful relationship Jesus invites us into.
