What’s good Fathers! Well this is it. The Season 1 Finale, and man do we have a juicy one. We are talking about vulnerability. I know…I cringed at the thought of it too. Exposing my pain. Being emotional. Allowing my sensitive side to show. These aren’t things fathers do! Or are they? On this Episode, Gladys and I discuss this needed, yet challenging topic around being vulnerable. I will be the first to admit this is a real challenge for me. I was not raised to be that type of man. Yet day after day, I discover what I would truly miss out on, if I refused to express who I truly am with those I love. Being vulnerable is Tom Cruise…hold up…I mean risky business. There is no guarantee when you let your guard down. From my experience though, when you do allow yourself to be vulnerable, your children get the most precious gift you could offer them. How To Affirm Your Child [S01E11]

What’s good Fathers! Do you believe in life defining moments? Those times where you knew it was a pivotal turning point in who you were to become. We all have them. Marriage. Career transition. Having children. Yet, it doesn’t stop there. I learned this truth all too well with Kyndall, my soon to be 8-year old. She is constantly stretching me as a father whether she knows it or not (I think she does). One area that is extremely important for her is receiving affirmations; knowing without a shadow of a doubt that I value her. One problem. I haven’t always been great at it. Until…I learned a valuable lesson. In this episode, we share a 5-part process in which you can affirm your child. Fathers, your child needs to hear from you. You have a great opportunity to give them a beacon of light and focus, as they journey through the challenges of life. Positive affirmations offer blessings, hope, and a future. What’s good y’all! Achieving excellence is no short task. It requires discipline, grit, and an unyielding drive to impact in a significant way. One of my favorite persons that displays this type of character is Tony Dungy. He’s a man that always puts his principles into practice no matter if it's at home, on the football field, or as an NFL commentator. The excellence he and so many other fathers achieve though does not happen overnight. There is no magic solution. It simply means showing up putting your best effort on a daily basis. Another father that I know personally who shares this same attitude is Mick Scott. On this episode, Mick and I discussed how key it is for a father to take on the responsibility of being there for his children. Mick has two awesome boys (Henry and Ben) and he wants to ensure they develop into responsible men, who deeply care about how they impact the world around them. Fathers, never underestimate the power of your presence. Mick and I both believe you have it in you to take your fatherhood to a whole new level. When your children see that you’re willing to reach new heights, they will stretch with you. How great is that! Enjoy! Another popular blend is the family. A blended family is simply parents and children combined from previous/current relationships. Being in a blended family can be tough. Knowing what role to play as a non-biological parent. Wondering if a child is being treated more or less fairly than another.
