Description

Intro: Apparently Chrome Books are like Trix cereal and just for kids. They’re being replaced in droves by Macbook Neos and other inexpensive computers. To combat that, Google is coming out with a new desktop operating system called the Aluminum OS (or Aluminion for our UK friends). Good plan? Hard to say but dumping Chrome as an OS seems like a step in the right direction. For Pick’s Sake (Where applicable you fool you fool) Guy: Sound Source from Rogue Amoeba - This is the best tool for dealing with system wide audio on your Mac. From a handy menubar control, you can set audio defaults as well as reroute audio from one source to another. You can it free or pay $49 for this very useful tool. GMenShow 37: What's Next?

Intro: Getting close to WWDC 27 and Apple has so many rumors flying around. Between a new CEO, a mega hit laptop, and speculation about upcoming products, it’s a virtual cornucopia of unknowns. Are we going to pull the covers back and reveal all the new stuff. Oh heck no, but we’ll talk about what we think is happening. For Pick’s Sake (Where applicable you fool you fool) Guy: iExit by Metrocket - Amazing app with up to the minute gas prices, travel coupons for hotels, restaurants all by exits in whatever state you’re in. Also searches by Interstate highway and some major state routes. It’s location aware and defaults to Apple Maps to show where the business is you’re looking for. Small fee to remove ads but otherwise free Gaz :  Jeff: Plexamp - Plex’s app just for playing music from your plex server. It’s great for discovery and curation. It’s the music interface for audiophiles who listen to their own music library. https://www.plex.tv/plexamp/- Contact Info gmenshow@icloud.com MacParrot and VertShark on Twitter MacParrot on BlueSky GazMaz on Mastadon: Gazmaz@c.im and on Bluesky GuyandGaz on Twitter and Bluesky Jeff on Mastodon: mastodon.social@jgamet Jeff on Bluesky: jgamet.bsky.social Jeff’s blogs: jeffgamet.com [http://jeffgamet.com] and freshbrewedtales.com [http://freshbrewedtales.com] Google Voice number 703-828-477 (outside the US/ Your country code then 1, then the number) will incur charges if dialed directly. GMen Show 36: I can see clearly now

Intro: Is it possible to look into our crystal balls and determine what Apple might bring to the table in iOS 27 by looking at existing its disability features? For Pick’s Sake (Where applicable you fool you fool) Guy: Thank Goodness you’re here! A silly fun game in the Apple App Store for $19.99. A little pricey but fun Dave:  DotDisk™ 80Gbps SSD Enclosure [https://satechi.com/products/dotdisk-80gbps-ssd-enclosure] Gaz :  Contact Info gmenshow@icloud.com MacParrot and VertShark on Twitter MacParrot on BlueSky GazMaz on Mastadon: Gazmaz@c.im and on Bluesky GuyandGaz on Twitter and Bluesky Dave: https://youtube.com/intouchwithios [https://youtube.com/intouchwithios] and nearly everywhere else as daveg65! episode GMen Show 35: No Vision artwork

GMen Show 35: No Vision

Intro: According to some, Apple is quietly abandoning the Vision Pro after lackluster sales with the M5 upgrade last year. The usual suspects are sited, high price, too heavy, not enough developer support. What if the goal isn’t the Vision Pro but something else? For Pick’s Sake (Where applicable you fool you fool) Guy: ChatGPT Atlas. It is both a web browser and LLM/AI chat bot. It’s quick as most other browsers and if you use an AI client a lot, it’s quite handy. Product searching isn’t about ad placement. Be aware it’s also gathering information based on what you ask it so privacy is not the main focus Gaz :  Marty: logi tech mx keys mini minimalist  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B098JCTY32 [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B098JCTY32]GLORIOUS Gaming Sound Dampening Keyboard Mathttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DCPFD2H6 [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DCPFD2H6] Contact Info gmenshow@icloud.com MacParrot and VertShark on Twitter MacParrot on BlueSky GazMaz on Mastadon: Gazmaz@c.im and on Bluesky GuyandGaz on Twitter and Bluesky Marty: jencius@gmail.com [jencius@gmail.com] podtalk.net [http://podtalk.net] Google Voice number 703-828-477 (outside the US/ Your country code then 1, then the number) will incur charges if dialed directly. GMen Show 34: So long and thanks for all the fish

Intro: Well what was once thought of as unthinkable has finally happened. Tim Cook is stepping down as Apple’s CEO to be replaced by John Ternus. For a lot of people who joined Apple or didn’t buy Apple products until after 2011, Cook was the only CEO that they have known. For Ternus, he’s stepping in as Apple seems to be at their strongest with rumored new product releases right around the corner. His story is for later as we discuss Tim Cook’s hits and misses over the years. For Pick’s Sake (Where applicable you fool you fool) Guy: For a good small-ish starter Mic, I recommend the Lewitt 240 Pro condenser. It’s about $130 on Amazon. Remember to get a good mic stand and pop filetr for it as well. https://www.amazon.com/LEWITT-LCT-Condenser-Microphone-Black/dp/B072F5J32C/ [https://www.amazon.com/LEWITT-LCT-Condenser-Microphone-Black/dp/B072F5J32C/] Gaz :  Jeff: Waterllama https://waterllama.com/ [https://waterllama.com/] Contact Info gmenshow@icloud.com MacParrot and VertShark on Twitter MacParrot on BlueSky GazMaz on Mastadon: Gazmaz@c.im and on Bluesky GuyandGaz on Twitter and Bluesky Jeff's Fresh Brewed Tales [https://freshbrewedtales.com/2026/04/19/my-coffe-mans-coffee-quest/] is back Jeff’s Macstock $50 discount code: DIGIWIZARD Jeff's Social stuff is JGamet EVERYWHERE!
