Beskrivelse

Before she was a farmer, she was a nurse. To Aubrey, the most fulfilling part of her work as a nurse was being involved in peoples healing. She found her way into agriculture and now gets to continue that passion for healing and human connection in a more holistic way. She started as a home gardener and set out on a mission to sustain her family through her homestead on just under 5 acres of land that she was raised on, a piece of property that has been in her family since the 1940's. It all started with a raised garden bed and an attempt at growing her own tomatoes. This hobby turned into an obsession and is now her profession.  In this interview we talk through the story of her farm, the tough realities of farming and acquiring land, a little about her farming practices, how breaking down big projects into smaller action steps allow us to tackle insurmountable tasks - like nutrition in public schools (which Aubrey is doing with the help of others), how we would both love to see consumers reconnect to our food sources by making small changes here and there, and how simplifying and taking one step at a time rules over trying to make a ton of drastic changes all at once. It’s just not sustainable. And sustainability is what she’s all about.
