Michael was born with Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC), a rare condition that left doctors telling his parents he may never walk. What happened next is difficult to even comprehend. Thousands of hours of physical therapy. Surgeries. Braces. Rehabilitation. Learning to navigate a world that was not built for him. And then somehow, before he could properly walk, he learned to ski. What makes this conversation powerful is that it is not really about skiing. It is about identity. It is about choosing resilience when resignation would be easier. It is about grief, purpose, and rebuilding yourself when life forces you to start over. We talk about losing one of the most important people in his life and stepping away from the sport completely.
