All About Breast Cancer with Medical Oncologist, Dr. Eleonora Teplinsky

Today, I’m thrilled to have Dr. Eleonora Teplinsky on the podcast. Dr. Teplinsky is a board certified medical oncologist who specializes in breast and gynecologic cancers. If you’re not already following her, I encourage you to check out her Instagram, which is @drteplinsky. She shares a lot of wonderful information about breast cancer as well as other cancers. My favorite posts are the ones she does on lifestyle recommendations for cancer prevention as I think we are all becoming more aware of the environmental toxins that are affecting our health. She also has her own podcast, the Interlude podcast, where she talks to women living with cancer about their journeys. It’s a really powerful and wonderful resource for anyone – at some point we will all know someone with cancer or help take care of someone with cancer. In this episode, we specifically focus on breast cancer. We talk about breast cancer screening, different modalities, lifestyle recommendations, breast cancer treatment, and so on and so forth.

Professionally, Dr. Bales is a physical therapist specializing in the treatment of pelvic floor disorders with a special interest on return to sport around pregnancy (she's also, at baseline, an amazing physical therapist). However, I mainly wanted to talk to Dr. Abby (as I call her) about her experience as a patient with several chronic health conditions, multiple surgeries, and navigating an often confusing healthcare system. It is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) awareness month and I wanted to have one of my friends, Sari Imberman, on the podcast to talk about her experience with PCOS. She has known she has had PCOS since her teens, which isn't typical for many women who are ultimately diagnosed with PCOS. She explains how she got diagnosed, how it impacted her teens and 20s, how she got pregnant with PCOS, and more. Today I speak with physical therapist, Kathleen Gassner. Kathleen is a physical therapist at Custom PT in New York City, which caters to runners of all abilities. I have several friends who are physical therapists and I can truly say that aside from strength training, regular physical therapy has kept me running.
