The Legacy of the Navajo Uranium Miners
A story of exploitation, apology, and unjust compensation: the Navajo people have suffered a long history of abuse at the hands of their Imperial Guardian, the United States. Of these abuses, the most lasting comes from the uranium mining which took place throughout the Navajo Nation between 1942 and 1986. This is the chronicle of how it happened, and why nothing was done to help the Navajo until much too late, as well as what is being done today to remedy the issues caused decades ago.
