For many of us we have memories of going out to catch them and put them in jars to keep in our rooms over night.  This is probably not something they do in Togo and Benin, and Ghana, where they have a legend of a vampiric entity. This thing takes the form of a firefly to find it's way into a house, then it takes human form to possess someone.  Like many places legends like these are made to explain the unexplainable. Episode 151: Moon River Brewing Company:

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2106811/fan_mail/new] Ian takes us down to Savannah this week to look at one of the most haunted buildings in the city.  Built as a hotel for travelers this building would be used for various things, including of course a hospital where dozens of people died, mainly children.  Even before she was opened as a brew pub reports of strange experiences in the building had been made. Episode 150: Helen's Bridge:

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2106811/fan_mail/new] We have a short local urban legend for you folks today, the tale of Helen's Bridge in Asheville NC.  Built in the early 1900's to get to the Zealandia Mansion, this bridge is said to be the sight where a grieving mother took her own life. We deal with our fair share of mosquitos in WNC, but in the swamp land of ENC there lives one that is said to be the size of a man, or at least a very large bird.
