Beskrivelse

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2532999/fan_mail/new] In this powerful conversation, I sit down with Rico Winston and his 16-year-old son, Izzy, to explore their remarkable journey through autism, advocacy, and unconditional love. Rico opens up about life before the diagnosis, the overwhelming early years, and the season he calls his “hopeless chapter.” From being told Izzy might never speak to watching him become a confident young advocate sharing his story on the news, speaking with members of Congress, and partnering with Little Lobbyists. This episode dives deep into the battles, the breakthroughs, and the bond that changed everything. Rico, a Marine with a background in service and structure, talks candidly about learning to slow down, let go of expectations, and meet his son exactly where he is. Izzy shares what it feels like to turn pain into purpose and step into his identity as a young leader. This is a story about resilience, fatherhood, and the beautiful power of accepting your child for who they are. Ep. 14 Struggle to Impact: Dr. Ashley Gresh on Postpartum Care

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2532999/fan_mail/new] Dr. Ashley Gresh, PhD, CNM, RN, and Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, transformed her own difficult postpartum experience into the foundation of her life’s work. A certified nurse-midwife and public health nurse, she is dedicated to eliminating maternal health disparities in the U.S. and globally. Through the Addressing Women’s Health Inequities initiative, she fosters collaborations that develop evidence-based, nurse-led solutions with a central focus on reimagining postpartum care, because the “postpartum cliff” doesn’t need to be so steep. Her research on perinatal group-based care and her global fellowship experience highlight her commitment to co-creating human-centered solutions that honor families, shift power, and transform systems of maternal and child health. Ep. 13 Endo Isn’t the End: The Beginning of Advocacy

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2532999/fan_mail/new] Monika Spieker  shares her raw and honest journey living with Stage IV endometriosis! Her symptoms began at 13, but like many women, she was told it was “just bad periods.” After years of debilitating pain, more than 10 ER visits, and one unforgettable moment of realizing not everyone feels like they’re “passing liquid acid” during their cycle, she started questioning what was actually normal. Officially diagnosed in 2022 after laparoscopic surgery, Monika now navigates chronic pain, multiple surgeries, and a condition with no cure all while holding onto her humor and resilience. Her story is vulnerable, validating, and empowering for anyone who’s ever been told their pain wasn’t real.
