Description

Our topic was The Election In The City Government Reform. Our topic is about the progressive era and the corruption of elections and about how the 17th amendment came into play, with ending the corruption. The 17th Amendment did this by giving people the power the nominate their own candidate instead of machine bosses choosing the nominees. This was a big change because the Machine bosses would nominate the candidate, then were allowed to count the number of ballots each candidate had so they would miscount the number of ballots so the person they nominated would always win. Lastly during this time period there were many reforms, which lead to the creation of things like kindergartens, minimum wage and pensions for workers.
