Born on February 16, 1901, in Savanna, Illinois, Wayne King began his musical career as a saxophonist. He formed his first orchestra, the Wayne King Orchestra, in 1927. One of the defining features of the Wayne King Orchestra was their signature sound, characterized by lush string arrangements, gentle melodies, and a dreamy atmosphere.
