In this episode, Tor discusses his interesting path to academia. He also describes his work and its application to our everyday lives. He works as a  professor of Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Colorado Boulder. He focuses in brain mapping and understanding how the brain processes pain. Tor is most notable for his groundbreaking research into underlying expectations and placebo effects, and their influences on brain systems involved in pain, emotion, and motivation. His work has been highlighted in the New York Times, LA Times, Science Magazine, and National Geographic. He earned his PHD from the University of Michigan and became an assistant professor of psychology at Columbia University [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbia_University] in 2004. In 2010, he became a faculty member at the University of Colorado Boulder and this fall he will be joining  the faculty at Dartmouth.
