Recent data from the New Orleans Police Department and the Metropolitan Crime Commission confirms that violent crime and major property offenses have dropped significantly over the last three to four years. The Texas State Board of Education is holding a final vote on a landmark proposal that would mandate Bible passages as required reading for more than 5 million public school students. If approved by the Republican-controlled board, the new standardized English language arts curriculum and its "literary canon" reading list will officially take effect for the 2030–2031 school year.
