Hair Care & Mental Health w/ Dr. Afiya Mbilishaka

Being in love with hair her whole life, Dr. Afiya grew up as her family’s hairstylist, graduating from lawn chairs at cookouts to eventually holding space in her college dorm room for a mini-salon. Her trait of being a skillful active listener translated smoothly to the field of psychology, earning her degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Howard University. At the age of 26, Dr. Afiya earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and was a full time therapist at Columbia University and then she was a professor at the University of the District of Columbia. Chelsea Cherry-Brown, is a wife, mom, professional speaker, and multi-faceted entrepreneur. Primarily has spent the last 7+ years as a holistic health and wellness business owner of Triple Threat Lifestyle LLC., personal trainer (specialized in weight loss, prenatal/postpartum fitness, recovery/rehabilitation), and holistic lifestyle coach, teaching people how to make healthy habits a vibey way of being. Also a certified nutrition coach with a cookbook coming out all about "Healthy-Not-Boring" nutrition. With a background in both psychology & communications, it serves her well as a full time entrepreneur, professional speaker, coach, and mentor as well, wearing many hats. Raenae Thompson has decided to turn her trauma into triumph and create SociaLight Stars, In 2024 she unfortunately has continued to deal with cyberbullying from the relative and Raenae continues to press forward with her non-profit, no matter the negativity. SociaLight Stars is a non-profit organization that educates the community and guides those who have been affected by social media trauma and cyberbullying, into a space of healing, through motivational videos, digital citizenship education and the SociaLight Stars podcast on YouTube.
