#199 Are Souls Still Learning After Death? A Medium’s Surprising Message

I wrote my book, The Soul Unleashed, because my son, Matt, asked me to from spirit. What I didn’t know then was that he’d still be teaching me. #198 Civil War Mystery: The Soldiers Who Never Got a “Good Death”

What happened to Civil War soldiers who never made it home, and what did a “good death” really mean during the Civil War? In this Civil War mystery, I explore the story of Union soldiers killed during the 1864 Battle of Mount Zion Church in Loudoun County, Virginia. These Civil War soldiers from Massachusetts and New York died far from home and were buried in unmarked graves or lost burial sites, leaving families without what was then understood as a “good death.” During the Civil War, the idea of a “good death” was central to how people understood dying. It meant being surrounded by family, having time for final words, and receiving a proper burial. But for many Civil War soldiers, especially those killed in sudden battles and cavalry skirmishes, that did not happen.
