episode EP #17: Controversial Fitness Coaching Opinions cover

Description

I take issue with a lot of the most common practices in online fitness coaching, and this episode takes a deep dive as to why some of the more "mainstream" techniques don't align with my philosophy, and frankly, don't work for very many people.

Introducing: The Built Better Podcast

My business and brand have evolved greatly over the years, and the Jessica Burke Coaching ecosystem is going through a complete rebuild and rebrand. Introducing... The Built Better Podcast! I'm still here to provide you with reasonable and realistic fitness information, focusing on strength, function, and overall quality of life. Being in the fitness space has felt a little exhausting, and sometimes I feel extremely out of place. Sure, I care about my aesthetic and the way my body looks - but I want to (and I want you to!) go about it in the right way. I spent so long optimizing everything for the aesthetic I thought I wanted, and allowed my strength and function to suffer. Turns out: when your body doesn't work exactly how you want it to, you don't give a s**t about how you look. And now, after focusing on strength, function, and health for the last few years, I'm in the best physical shape of my life despite a catastrophic and limiting injury. You can have the body you want. You don't have to make yourself miserable to get there. Looking incredible and being healthy, strong, and mobile are NOT mutually exclusive. And a desirable aesthetic is often the result of fueling intentionally and building a strong resilient body. I'm glad you're here. Let's build a better body (and life), together.
