In this episode, I interview Jared Smith, a tattoo artist originally from Pennsylvania. Jared works at Authentic Tattoo in San Francisco. He bought his first tattoo machine at 15, and began his experiments with tattooing by messing around by tattooing himself and friends. He completed his first apprenticeship and started tattooing professionally for the first time in 2008. After a 2nd apprenticeship, he started tattooing again in 2017 Now he's a resident of San Francisco with Authentic Tattoo. Japanese ukiyo-e, or woodblock printing, is his source of inspiration, but he isn't afraid to try out new styles to suit his clients.
