Red flags. This is not an easy topic as I think part of the point of red flags is that they are only usually obvious in hindsight. I think we would all like to think that we wouldn't ever be taken in, but the truth is that anybody can be taken in by someone who turns out to be manipulative or dishonest. However, there are some things that are worth thinking about when it comes to paying attention to signs that things might not be quite right.This is not an easy topic and I know can be a sensitive one, so I hope I have done it some justice here.The request for this topic came in from a listener. Fixed beliefs about yourself

I've been watching my kids at sports days and it has made me think about the kinds of beliefs we can develop about ourselves. "I am no good at running / maths / painting / dancing..." Beliefs that are black-and-white, with the assumption that things are never going to change. Practical Gratitude

To be honest, I have always been a bit sceptical of gratitude as an approach to mental health, because it felt to me like another way of getting someone to dismiss their feelings: "Ah don't feel that way, just be grateful."That isn't my take on it any more and I am grateful for that (see what I did there).
