In 1950, Uruguay stunned Brazil in the World Cup Final, winning 2-1. In 1983, Hale Irwin's whiff of a tap-in during Saturday's round cost him a shot at the Claret Jug on Sunday. In 1959, Bill Wright became the first African American to win a USGA event when he won the PubLinks Championship. In 1941, Joe DiMaggio hit safely in his 56th consecutive game.
