Description

Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela, Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey – some of the greatest leaders of all time. But what makes each of these individuals such a remarkable leader? And how do we define great leadership? We may be apt to hold on to the traditional notion that leadership is defined by rank and order. But your position or title alone does not qualify you as a veritable leader. Think about it, how many CEOs are there in the world that hold a position of great power, but have a nominal impact on their employees? How many managers aren’t even respected by those that they manage? Even brilliant and innovative individuals can stumble when it comes to finding their voice. Because leadership is not defined by a position, nor it is even defined by intellectual prowess or natural talent – leadership is the skill of influence, something that you can use to impact the thoughts, feelings, emotions and actions of others. And it is the most important skill that any one of us can master. Yet as important as leadership is, in today’s world, it’s a rarity. And that’s not because there is a scarcity of natural born leaders. In fact, leadership can be cultivated. Many of us suppose it’s an innate talent, but anyone can become a leader in something that they decide to become masterful in. You could be the leader in your business, the leader in your class, the leader in your own family. You could even decide to become the leader of your own life. There are different types and different styles of leadership. But real leadership starts with the capacity to discipline your disappointment. Because along any journey worth taking, you are going to encounter obstacles, and odds are, you are going to fail. But if you can find a way to connect to yourself, and connect to others, and if you can find a way to break through those challenges, you can become a true leader. And when you strive to serve the greater good – something greater than yourself – that’s when you can become a truly great leader. Tony and Mary Buckheit recently sat down with General Stanley McChrystal and Chris Fussell to discuss what great leadership looks like today and how to cultivate an infrastructure for success in any organization. In this episode of the podcast, you will hear Tony, General McChrystal and Chris delve into the reasons that leadership no longer comes from a command and control model, but from creating relationship-based change throughout the entire organization and by empowering every single person that is part of your business. And they examine the importance of building trust, remaining flexible, practicing empathy, and creating a culture of shared consciousness. By breaking out of the traditional sense of leadership, business owners can create a more cohesive and more powerful team that is not only more unified, but more efficient, and ultimately, more effective. Build a lasting partnership | Tony Robins Podcast

We all encounter challenges in our relationships, some more serious than others, but it’s how we handle them that ultimately matters. For many of us, when we feel pain, we tend to blame our partners. We criticize, close up. We avoid them, ignore them. All to play a game of who’s wrong and who’s right. But when you truly love someone – it doesn’t matter who’s wrong or who’s right. In fact, blame only takes our power away, and excuses only cause us to continue hurting each other. Welcome back to the Tony Robbins Podcast. On today’s episode of the Real Breakthrough Series, we’re taking you back to Date With Destiny where Tony is working with Teresa and John, a couple fighting their way out of a painful past and trying to figure out a path towards a healthier, happier future. While Teresa and John have made substantial progress since dealing with infidelity, they still struggle when it comes to constructive communication. They slip back into old ways, making excuses for their behavior and shirking responsibility for their actions. But it’s clear they are still deeply in love, and are committed to finding a better way. Tony helps them see that if you’re having problems in your relationship, and feeling pain, it’s because you’re focused on yourself, not your partner. He helps them see that you can’t continue to focus on what you’re not getting, and what your partner’s not giving you. Because if you want to build an extraordinary relationship, you need to tear up the rules and start holding yourself 100% accountable for your experience. Discover Date With Destiny – Tony Robbins’ most intimate event, where tens of thousands of people have committed to designing their most beautiful lives. Over six immersive days, you’ll explore the depths of what drives every behavior, thought, decision and emotion you experience – and you’ll learn how to take control of your life to feel more joy, freedom and love than ever before. The #1 Secret to Getting Things Done | Tony Robbins Podcast

Many times in life, we credit someone’s successes or failures to will power. If you’re able to power through a challenging task and succeed, you’ll be applauded for your impressive display of will power. If you fail to reach a major milestone, you blame yourself for not having enough will power. But will power alone isn’t enough to help you reach the success you crave – it all comes down to the power of habit. What are you doing to form the habits that will make you feel better in business and in your life in general? What habits are you forming and practicing that enable you to be the most authentic, successful, joyful version of yourself possible? On the other hand, what habits are holding you back from achieving all that you’re truly capable of? You have to understand the power of habit and put it to work for you. To do this, you need to understand the evolution of a habit and recognize when you’re forming and practicing habits, be they good or bad. In this practice, you become able to achieve more in your professional and personal life. If you’re running your own business, you can get customers to modify their habits and form new ones by purchasing your products or services. In this video, you’ll hear from Charles Duhigg, a Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter and author of the bestselling book, “The Power of Habit,” and the novel, “Smarter Better Faster.” Duhigg began studying the power of habits after he worked as a junior reporter, covering war stories in Iraq. Duhigg, along with Tony Robbins’ Podcast host Ana Yoerg, dive into what it takes to form and maintain a powerful habit. Duhigg explores bad and good habits, and how many of the things we think of as choices in our lives are actually the result of habits we’ve been practicing – sometimes without even realizing it. We often respond to a cue *which triggers that habit to start), a routine, which is how we typically respond to the cue, and finally, a reward. That reward is the signifying act that teaches our brain to remember that pattern, ultimately triggering all of our habits, good and bad. It’s never too late to break new habits and reestablish old ones. Tune in to this powerful discussion and discover how habits can transform our businesses, communities and, ultimately, our lives.
