Beschrijving

Unfinished. Unafraid. Unstoppable. is a new podcast from International Center for Research on Women (ICRW), created in celebration of our 50th anniversary. This season, we go beyond analysis to reveal the pivotal decisions that have advanced gender equality—often in moments of real risk, resistance, and uncertainty. In each episode, ICRW experts sit down with visionaries, changemakers, and disruptors who are driving progress globally. Through candid, evidence-based conversations, guests unpack the bold choices they made, the backlash they faced, the trade-offs they navigated, and the narratives they had to challenge to create lasting change. Together, we draw on lessons from the past, confront today's realities, and map practical pathways toward a more equitable future. Where It All Began (with Emilienne de León and Alexandra Garita)

This series premiere episode features Mexican feminists and gender justice advocates, Emilienne de León [https://www.linkedin.com/in/emilienne-de-leon-aulina-70223335/] and Alexandra Garita [https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexandra-garita-2231a020/], in conversation with ICRW’s Bama Athreya. They discuss the evolving landscape of gender equality. They reflect on progress since the first-ever UN World Conference on Women in Mexico City, persistent barriers, ongoing challenges, and the cultural and political shifts needed to accelerate change. In this episode: * The historical context of feminism and the influence of indigenous movements in shaping feminist consciousness. * The relationship between democracy, political change, and gender equality. * Why care economies and social policy are central to lasting change. * How technology, including AI and social media, can foster connection or deepen division. * Strategies to shift cultural narratives, counter backlash, and engage men as allies. * What it will take to effectively confront violence and systemic inequality and build a more inclusive future.
