episode Ep. #37 — How Hard Is It to Get to the MLB? — Cam Janik cover

Description

Cam Janik was drafted in 2024 and is currently in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. I’ve trained Cam since he was 12 years old, so this episode is a full-circle conversation about what it really takes to go from a young athlete with a dream to playing pro baseball. We talk about the jump from college to pro ball, why there are no “easy” at-bats anymore, plus the reality of being a catcher: controlling a pitching staff, game-calling, and the work that never shows up on a stat sheet. Cam also shares how he trains and recovers now that he’s playing every day and what discipline looks like when motivation disappears.

Ep. #38 — Why Would Someone Break Their Legs to Get Taller? — Brian Sanchez

Brian Sanchez joins Steve on the Unpolished Podcast for a conversation about faith, fitness, identity, family, recovery, and the decisions that can completely change the direction of your life.Brian is known by many for his leg lengthening journey, but this episode goes much deeper than the surgery itself. He shares stories from his upbringing, his Colombian family background, wild family history involving drug lords, his time in Mormonism, losing and rebuilding his faith, chasing strength and physical transformation, and the mental state that eventually led him toward one of the most extreme decisions of his life. This conversation gets into what can cause someone to break their legs to get taller. Not just the outside story, but the deeper search for identity, meaning, redemption, and purpose behind it. Brian also opens up about the brutal recovery process, how it affected his family, and what he is doing now to rebuild his body and become the man he wants to be.Sponsored by:Pace Insurance & Financial Serviceshttps://paceinsuranceandfinancialservices.com/ [https://paceinsuranceandfinancialservices.com/]Gordian Key Forgehttps://www.gordiankeyforge.com/ [https://www.gordiankeyforge.com/]

Refuse to Be a Victim — Andy Coleman — Unpolished Podcast Ep. #36

Georgia living, Forsyth County growth, public education, local politics, and a WILD survival story — this Unpolished Podcast episode with Andy Coleman goes way beyond real estate. Steve sits down with Andy Coleman (The Coleman Group / “Coleman Sold It”) — a Forsyth County local who knows North Georgia history like a walking encyclopedia — to talk about what it’s really like living in the Atlanta suburbs, why families are moving here, and what happens when a “fast-growing county” starts hitting its limits. Andy also shares the story behind his hand injury from a Jeep wreck on GA-400 — the split-second moment that changed everything, what it taught him about mindset, and how training + grit helped him push forward. In this episode, we get into: • Why Steve’s family left the Midwest winter and chose North Georgia (and what surprised them most) • Roswell / Canton Street culture, food, and the Georgia sports obsession • Atlanta United, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and why sports culture in GA hits different • Forsyth County growth: traffic, zoning, moratoriums, and “responsible development” • The push-pull between homeowners vs. developers (and how local government really works) • Public education, DEI conversations, standardized testing, and “education vs. intelligence” • Why Andy calls himself a “constitutional conservative” (and what that means locally) • Building a boutique real estate business with high ethics: “treat people like they’re your mom” • Fatherhood, coaching, community, and building something your kids actually want to stay near Connect with Andy & The Coleman Group Website: ColemanSoldIt.com (Find them on Facebook + Instagram — search “Coleman Sold It” / “The Coleman Group”) Sponsors: • Pace Insurance • Kissed By Fire Barbecue

Ep. #34 — Tommy John — GLP-1s, Bodybuilding & The Reality of Fitness

Tommy John is a coach, bodybuilder, and former powerlifter who’s spent over 20 years in the trenches of strength and nutrition. He’s coached lifestyle clients, athletes, and competitors, and he’s seen the best and worst of what the fitness industry has to offer. In this episode, we go deep on the reality of bodybuilding, coaching, and the rise of GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic. Tommy talks about eating 10,000 calories a day, walking away from powerlifting when his health started to fail, and why “boring and consistent” always beats hacks and shortcuts. We also dig into the pros and cons of GLP-1s, the mindset most people are missing, and how social media is changing the way we train. It’s raw, honest, and full of real-world perspective from someone who actually lives it. Whether you’re chasing strength, trying to lose weight, or just figuring out how to take control of your health, this one will hit home.
