Description

It is our mission to serve our community in a humane, public safety capacity while working to keep pets with loving families by providing education opportunities and resources or facilitating re-homing or adoption when necessary. The Department of Animal Care and Control carries out public safety and service tasks.  Animal Care & Control staff protects citizens from threatening animals, enforces animal related laws, protects the city’s animal population, and educates the public regarding safety, the surplus animal problem, and the humane care and treatment of animals.  Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control is categorized as an open-access animal shelter. This means we have the legal obligation to take in all animals that come to us from Allen County, no matter their species, behavior, or health status. Our team relies on community support through donations and grant funding to support our lifesaving programs such as:  * Angel Fund  * Foster Program  * Humane Education Youth Programs/Community Outreach  * Volunteer Program * Adoption Program  https://www.cityoffortwayne.in.gov/162/Animal-Care-Control
