Description

Locally and lovingly produced for the 2024 holiday season, this year’s edition of Season’s Readings from FM 91 will feature a selection of short stories from The Story-Teller collection by Maud Lindsay (1874-1941). WGTE invites you into the magic of these charming and family-friendly tales as they are intertwined with Christmas carols, classical music, and familiar voices from WGTE, including Mary Claire Murphy as narrator. Tune in to FM 91 on December 16th at 7 p.m. and December 24th at 9 p.m. for our season’s readings, a program especially for young ones who sleeplessly await Christmas morning and for the young-at-heart seeking food for the soul.

The Shop Around the Corner

Join WGTE Public Media this holiday season as we travel back in time to Hollywood of 1940! This December WGTE Public Radio presents The Shop Around the Corner, a radio play filled with laughter, romance, a good helping of nostalgia and holiday cheer. You’ll hear the voices of Qarie Marshall, Haley Taylor, Peter Crist, Lane Hakel and more as they join a little group of people who work together in a certain little shop around the corner. It’s a story of boy meets girl, girl hates boy, boy tricks girl, and then girl and boy fall in love. A story so popular even Nora Ephron couldn’t help but adapt it into her hit romantic comedy, You’ve Got Mail. Regardless of if you’re a fan of the original film starring Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullavan (or Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan’s version), there's romance just around the corner for you with WGTE’s The Shop Around the Corner! Airing December 22nd and 24th at 7 p.m. on FM 91 and available to stream right here at WGTE.ORG.
