Willingdon Church Podcast
Have you found yourself in a complex situation, where things did not appear to be right (a bit crooked), and your friend asked you what you were going to do, and you just shook your head and answered, “Who knows?” Is there biblical wisdom for situations where you just don’t know what to do next? In this life, under the sun, we all have pleasant moments – when life is just gliding along fabulously – and we all live through unpredictable, crooked, complex moments – those moments that alter the course of our lives, that make everything stop like a traffic jam. What is your “traffic jam” moment? The Bible doesn't offer a one, two, three step solution to life’s complexities. It doesn’t say, “Just do this and this and everything will be perfect, just the way you want it to be.” The God of Scriptures is too wise for that simplistic approach, but He does offer wisdom. In a complex situation, … 1. Submitting to God’s sovereign hand is better than fighting it. 2. Meaningful reflection is better than superficial frivolity. 3. Calm patience is better than angry emotional outbursts. 4. Living wisely in the present is better than dreaming about the past. 5. Paying attention to God’s work is better than lamenting what might have been.
