Charles Spurgeon once called it “the pearl of psalms,” and rightly so—its beauty is simple, its truth profound, and its comfort timeless. With that in mind, today we turn our attention to some practical ways we can trust God in seasons of trial.

Step Where God Leads

Because of our fallen nature, trials can stop us in our tracks. But God’s way isn’t retreat—it’s steady, faithful movement, even if it’s slow. Israel built the wall in 52 days, yet the enemy never stopped working against them. And Nehemiah gives us the pattern we need when life presses hard: pray, trust, and take the next step. That’s how we keep moving through the fire.

Remember the Lord

Everyone faces discouragement—whether they walk closely with God or feel far from Him. In Nehemiah 4 we meet a people who were ready to give up on the work God had given them. Their discouragement was real, but through Nehemiah’s leadership they learned to lift their eyes from their troubles and look to the Lord.
