Træna / Hawaii
Two siblings. Two islands. One camera. In the 1920s, Alma on the remote Norwegian island of Træna receives a camera in the mail from her brother Theodor in Hawaii — a brother she has never met. Through letters and photographs sent across the world, the two unknowingly document half a century of island life, migration, family, and change. Featuring artist and family descendant Sonia Holmen, this is a warm and surprising story about distance, patience, and the first photographer of Træna.
10 000 Years Ago
A mysterious journey into the deep history of Træna. From the last Ice Age to the Black Death, this episode explores Kirkehelleren, the vast cave on the island of Sanna where people have lived, sheltered, and left traces behind for nearly 10,000 years. Together with local guide and archaeology enthusiast Anders Budde, we follow the layers beneath the cave floor: ancient fishhooks, forgotten graves, hidden house remains, and a medieval gold ring with a mysterious inscription. A story about survival, discovery, and the early people who came to the edge of the world.
