37 episoderIn this week's episode of Badminton Science Podcast, I give my 5 steps for faster recovery. It's not just about physically recovery, but mental recovery as well. Many times we see more fit and even better players lose to inferior opposition due to mental exhaustion. Sometimes it is the physical exhaustion that is the problem. Sometimes we have a hard time coping and adapting with all the training, but to get the most out of it, we have to recover better! There will also be a bonus at the end for how you can... well, you have to listen to the episodes if you want to know what the bonus will be. How to strength train as an athlete with or without access to a gym? In this week's episode, I go through how you should (or could) strength train as a badminton player based on the solid work that Badminton Sweden has done in their player development plan. Unfortunately they are only in swedish, but you can follow the link to check them out: https:/ /badminton.nu/elit/elitprogrammet-och-spelarutvecksplan . What I really like is that Badminton Sweden has developed several documents about player development ranging from strength training to physical requirements and even tactical things such as game concept. In the episode you will hear me talk about and go over the program "strength training for badminton players" and give my opinions and suggestions/corrections on various exercises, things I would do different and more. I do not critizise the program, this is just my way of giving you more tools in your toolbox to reach your full potential! Soon my own strength training program for badminton players will be released, but for now you will have to stick to the three I have done so far where I strongly recommend you to check out "The Protected Player" as well as "Training for tall athletes" if you want to get effective programs for your strength training (the latter works for all different heights of players). You can find all the training programs I have done here: https://www.sugiyamabadminton.com/badminton-training-program If you have any questions write to @badmintonsciencepodcast on Instagram! ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. Have you ever wondered what you should do differently depending on how tall you are? Should a player at 170 cm train the same way as a player near 2 meters? The answer is both yes and no. In order to get explosive or strong the same rules still apply, but choosing the right exercises and having the right priorities is hard. Therefor, I did a lot of research based on a badminton superstar who happens to know what do to as an tall athlete, Viktor Axelsen. I have combined some of Viktor's approaches to various areas of his needs and added some thoughts of my own. Take a listen and learn a thing or two about what makes Viktor Axelsen great and what you can do (even if you are not tall) to improve. In this week's episode I will walk you through my training program "The Protected Player" which is an 8 week training program that can be downloaded for free at https://www.sugiyamabadminton.com/badminton-training-program where you will also find all the other training programs I´ve created. All programs are free. I focus on three parts of the program in today's episode: strength training, conditioning and mobility. The program is created to strengthen the parts of the body where badminton players usually injure themselves. A key to success is staying injury free so check out the program and follow it or use it as inspiration! In this weeks episode I will guide you in the jungle that is supplements. Going over 9 supplements and how they could benefit you depending on your goals. Some people, like myself, struggled with cramps and in the episode I mention what supplements I would have benefited from to prevent cramps. Other people want more explosiveness, more energy, better health etc. This will be your guide from creatine to caffeine to vitamins and protein powder.
