2 episoderHello from Dr Caron Post, Dr. Perrin Elisha, and special guest - Ed Harold We are going to introduce a model for emotional resilience that rests on the mind-body connection and on the relational connections between us. This includes the science of the nervous system, specifically poly-vagal theory. We’ll provide just enough knowledge of the nervous system so that you can understand that the “brain” is actually a system of energy and information that extends through our bodies-- not just in our head. We'll share a model for how our nervous systems, which are a psychosomatic (mind/body) experience, are always co-regulating with others, and why we need to understand and embrace this to build emotional resilience. While these times are enormously stressful, the silver lining is that if we can rise to this moment we can actually become better people and build skills that we need at all times.
In this podcast, Deborah interviews Dr. Post and Dr. Elisha about tools for emotional resilience in times of great change and uncertainty. In episode 1, we explore the research and neuroscience of stress tolerance, trauma, resilience and relationships to inform your view of what self care actually is and how to start practicing it in your daily life or even start a group in your community.
