Joker Out and the Slovenian Language
Feel Slovenia the podcast takes you beneath the surface of one of Europe’s most surprising countries – its culture, creativity and the people who make it sing. And this time, that’s quite literal. This episode is about the Slovenian language and features an extensive, exclusive, indepth interview with its surprising ambassadors – the hugely successful rock band, Joker Out. The band, who gained international fame representing Slovenia at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest with their song Carpe Diem and made the world dance – and sing in Slovenian – share how performing entirely in Slovenian became a statement of authenticity and pride. Through candid stories from behind the scenes, reflections on songwriting in multiple languages and a few personal tips for exploring Slovenia, the episode reveals how a small language can have a big voice. Climbing’s GOAT: An Exclusive Interview with Janja Garnbret
There’s dominance, and then there’s Janja Garnbret [https://www.slovenia.info/en/stories/janja-garnbret-the-best-sport-climber-in-the-world]. By 20, she’d done what no climber, man or woman, had ever achieved: won every competition in a World Cup season. She’s a two-time Olympic champion, a six-time World Champion, and the only athlete in climbing history to rule Lead, Bouldering, and Combined at the highest level. This very special episode of Feel Slovenia features an in-depth interview with Janja herself. We’ll uncover a side of her that doesn’t wear chalk on her hands or medals around her neck. We’ll learn where she likes to take visitors to Slovenia, the climb that has eluded her but which she dreams about, whether there will be a climbing wall in her newly built house, and how her nutrition plan differs from fellow Slovenian superstar Luka Dončič. All that and more, as part of this special episode with Janja Garnbret, the GOAT of climbing. Feel Slovenia the Podcast is brought to you by the Slovenian Tourist Board and hosted by Dr Noah Charney. GO!2025: Nova Gorica and the First Transnational European Capital of Culture
For this episode, Dr. Noah Charney heads to Nova Gorica [https://www.slovenia.info/en/business/meetings-and-congresses/nova-gorica-and-vipava-valley]. Just across the Italian border is Gorizia. They’re two cities that were separated by a chalk line drawn in the middle of the night in 1947. But now, they’re united for something remarkable: the first transnational European Capital of Culture [https://www.slovenia.info/en/stories/nova-gorica-and-gorizia-european-capital-of-culture-2025]. The project, called GO!2025 [https://www.go2025.eu/en], is well underway and already a huge success. But you’ve got another half a year to check it out, if you haven’t yet. This episode is all about the event and what you can see when you visit, with Dr. Charney joined by Erika Lojk from the Vipava and Nova Gorica Tourist Board and Mija Lorbek, CEO of GO!2025. Forest to Table Foraging on International Women's Day
Forest to Table Foraging on International Women's Day This episode stars two amazing women who have the same surname and are both star foragers, specialized in making wild plants into delicious and healthy concoctions. Katja Rebolj is a renowned forager who has appeared on Netflix, while Tanja Rebolj is the so-called “blonde witch of Jezersko” who forages alpine plants within a range of one kilometer from her home and makes the most mind-blowing liquors out of them. Katja and Tanja are examples of kind, strong women to be celebrated, and what better day to do so than Women's Day. Both are connected through the Slovenian cultural tradition of foraging, herbalism, tea-making and, of course, making schnapps. Raise a glass of the beverage of your choice (preferably created from hand-gathered ingredients) and join us for the latest episode of Feel Slovenia the podcast! P.S.
