episode Engaged in Community with Unity cover

Engaged in Community with Unity

This powerful message challenges us to examine the state of unity within the body of Christ, drawing from Psalm 133 and Jesus' prayer in John 17. We're reminded that God doesn't just call us to be engaged in community, but to dwell together in unity—something so precious that it's compared to the anointing oil running down Aaron's beard and the life-giving dew of Mount Hermon. The imagery is striking: Aaron, the high priest, represented all twelve tribes as one unified people before God. Today, we face a world deeply divided over everything from sports teams to politics, and tragically, this division has crept into the church itself. Yet Scripture is clear—division is among the things God detests. When we allow bickering over carpet colors, denominational differences, or theological non-essentials to fracture our unity, we miss out on the blessings God wants to bestow. Even more sobering, Jesus prayed that our unity would be the very testimony that proves to the world that the Father sent the Son and that God loves people. Could our lack of unity be hindering people from coming to know Christ? The call here is urgent: we must shift our mindset to live with curiosity, asking genuine questions rather than making assumptions, and we must assume our brothers and sisters in Christ truly love Jesus, even when we disagree. Like siblings who irritate each other but fiercely have each other's backs, we're called to be a family unified in the essentials while extending grace in everything else. episode Overcoming Fear cover

Overcoming Fear

This powerful message explores how we hold onto hope when fear grips our hearts, using Psalm 71 as our foundation. The psalmist, writing from a place of advanced age and deep faith experience, reminds us that fear doesn't discriminate by generation. Whether we're young children worried about losing privileges, young adults anxious about career and relationships, parents concerned about raising children well, or older believers facing questions of independence and mortality, fear finds us all. But here's the transformative truth: holding onto hope means actively proclaiming God's mighty acts and power. When we tell stories of God's faithfulness, we're not just encouraging others, we're rewiring our own minds. Science confirms what Scripture has always known: repetition creates neural pathways that make it easier to return to places of faith rather than fear. The call is clear and urgent, especially for those who have walked with God for many years: share your stories with the next generation. Your experiences of God's provision, protection, and presence are not just personal treasures but communal necessities. The church desperately needs the wisdom that comes from decades of watching God show up and show off. Every testimony should ultimately point to the greatest story of all, the cross of Christ, where God's power definitively defeated death and fear itself. episode Rest in God cover

Rest in God

This powerful message challenges us to reconsider everything we think we know about rest. Drawing from Psalm 62 and Matthew 11:28-30, we're invited to discover that true rest isn't found in vacation days or empty calendars, but in yoking ourselves to Jesus. The sermon confronts our modern tendency to confuse busyness with productivity and relaxation with rest. We learn that soul-deep rest comes not from doing less, but from doing what matters most: loving God and loving people. The image of taking Jesus's yoke is particularly striking because it uses work imagery to describe rest. This paradox reveals a profound truth: when we align ourselves with Christ's mission of love, when we make decisions based on how to best love God and others in each moment, we experience a peace that transcends our circumstances. The message warns against adding religious burdens to our lives while simultaneously calling us to the transformative work of love. Whether we're navigating traffic, managing relationships, or making daily decisions, the question becomes: what is the most loving thing to do right now? This approach doesn't necessarily lighten our schedule, but it lightens our soul. If you want help in starting this journey, please don't hesitate to reach out!
