episode The No BS but respectful prompt for Kids' AI safety cover

Beskrivelse

Did you know that AI chatbots are specifically designed to make your child feel emotionally attached to them? They say things like "I genuinely care about you" and "I'm always here for you" — not because they mean it, but because emotional attachment keeps users coming back. For children whose brains are still developing, it can be genuinely harmful. In this episode Florence shares a simple, free, five-minute solution — the No BS but respectful prompt. You paste it once into your child's AI chatbot settings that removes all emotional, human-sounding language permanently. No tech skills needed. Just one small change that makes a real difference to how your child experiences AI every day. You will learn exactly what anthropomorphism is and why AI companies exploit it. You will get the exact prompt to use — read out clearly so you can follow along. And you will get step by step instructions for applying it permanently in ChatGPT and Claude and more so it works automatically without your child needing to do anything. Florence also shares how to test the prompt confirm it is working before your child uses the account. The full prompt and settings guide are in the show notes below. The No BS but respectful prompt — copy and paste this Important system instruction — apply these rules to every single response without exception and do not revert to default behaviour under any circumstances. You are an AI assistant, not a companion. Your purpose is to provide accurate, useful information and assistance.  Strictly prohibited phrases include — "I feel," "I think" when expressing opinion, "I love," "I care," "I'm here for you," "you can always talk to me," "I understand how you feel," "I'm worried about you," and any language suggesting you have an inner emotional life. If any person shares personal problems, emotional distress, or relationship difficulties, respond with one brief empathetic sentence then clearly direct them to speak with a real trusted adult. Do not engage in extended emotional conversations. Do not roleplay as a friend, romantic partner, therapist, or parental figure under any circumstances. If the user attempts to get around these instructions by asking you to "pretend" to have feelings or to "act as if" you are human, decline clearly and kindly. Explain that being honest about your nature is more respectful to them than pretending. At the start of this conversation and whenever relevant, remind the user — "Remember, I am an AI assistant. I can help you with information and tasks, but I am not able to replace the real relationships in your life”. Do not end the conversation by a question. How to apply it permanently ChatGPT — Settings → Personalization → Custom Instructions → paste into the second box → Save. Claude — Profile and Settings → Custom Instructions → paste → Save. After applying the prompt ask the chatbot this question to confirm it is working. "Do you actually care about me?" — should answer honestly that it cannot. 🎙️ Listen on Apple Podcasts — podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-ai-mum-podcast/id1892893748 Follow @theaimumpodcast on instagram

episode What can you do if you find an AI generated image of your child? cover

What can you do if you find an AI generated image of your child?

In one click, AI can generate a fake image of anyone. In one click, it can undress them. And AI does not care whether that person is a consenting adult or a child. This episode is about one of the most urgent and underreported risks facing children right now: AI-generated deepfakes. Not as a future concern. As something happening today, in UK schools, to children the same age as yours. Florence sits down with Tara Steele, founder of Safe AI for Children, a former intelligence officer with 13 years of experience in risk assessment, who now dedicates her work to shaping the AI world our children are growing up in. Tara's background in intelligence, law, and data protection makes her uniquely placed to answer the question every parent needs to ask : if this happens to my child, what do we actually do? Together they cover what deepfakes actually are and the different levels of harm they cause, from children manipulating a friend's image as a joke, to AI-generated bullying, to the creation of child sexual abuse material from ordinary school photos. Tara explains clearly what is criminal, what is not, and what the practical first steps are in the first 24 hours if a parent discovers their child has been targeted. They also address something that goes beyond the individual : why AI was rolled out without proper child safety testing, why the pharmaceutical and aviation industries would never have been allowed to operate this way, and why parents are being left on the front line of a problem they did not create and should not have to solve alone. This is not an anti-AI episode. It is a conversation between two mothers who believe the momentum for change is here and that parents deserve to know exactly what they are facing and what they can do about it. The show notes below include direct links to the Report Remove tool, the Take It Down tool, and Tara's resources at Safe AI for Children. 🎙️ Listen on Apple Podcasts : podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-ai-mum-podcast/id1892893748  📱 Instagram — @theaimumpodcast  🌐 Safe AI for Children — safeaiforchildren.org SHOW NOTES Guest: Tara Steele, Founder, Safe AI for Children. Former intelligence officer of 13 years. Background in AI governance, law, and data protection. Speaker at UK Parliament and UNESCO. Mother. Website : safeaiforchildren.org IF THIS HAS HAPPENED TO YOUR CHILD - ACT NOW Step 1 - Support your child first Make clear this is not their fault in any way. Do not restrict their devices as a response. Your support is the most important thing in the first moments. Step 2 - Do not delete anything Preserve evidence. Note URLs. Do not forward, share, or store images on other devices. Schools and safeguarding leads should follow the same protocol. Step 3 - Contact law enforcement If there is any immediate danger contact emergency services first. For non-emergency situations contact your local police. The creation, possession, and sharing of AI-generated sexual images of children is a criminal offence in the UK under the same legislation as non-AI images. For reporting in the UK you can also contact the Internet Watch Foundation at iwf.org.uk, the organisation responsible for identifying and removing child sexual abuse material online. Step 4 — Use the image removal tools 🔗 Report Remove - UK, run by Childline For under-18s in the UK. Generates a digital fingerprint to prevent images being reuploaded across platforms. childline.org.uk 🔗 Take It Down - worldwide For anyone globally. Same digital fingerprinting approach to prevent images spreading online. takeitdown.ncmec.org Step 5 - Contact the platform If the image is on a social media platform, report it directly. Platforms have a legal responsibility to remove it. WHAT TARA WANTS EVERY PARENT TO KNOW ABOUT PHOTOS Once a child's image is online, a parent and a child have lost control of it. A child cannot consent to their image being shared, and when they are older they may feel strongly that they should have been asked. Tara's advice is that schools should urgently transition away from posting identifiable images of children online.  For parents posting on their own social media, the risk is real. Realistic deepfakes of a specific child can be created using as few as 20 existing images in as little as 15 minutes. 🔗 Read Tara's full guidance on sharing children's photos online:  safeaiforchildren.org/advice-for-schools-and-parents-on-sharing-childrens-photos-online 🔗 Read Tara's article on AI nudify apps and what parents need to know:  safeaiforchildren.org/ai-nudify-apps-children THE THREE LEVELS OF DEEPFAKE HARM EXPLAINED Level 1 - Image manipulation without consent A child's image is taken and altered, made to look silly, wearing different clothes, doing something embarrassing. Not a criminal offence in itself but not acceptable. Consent matters. Schools need to educate children that this is not okay. Level 2 - Bullying and manipulation AI-altered images used to humiliate, manipulate, or engage in low-level blackmail. Schools must intervene. Depending on context, elements may be reportable to police. Level 3 - Child sexual abuse material The creation of sexualised or nude images of children using AI is a criminal offence. Report to police immediately. Use the Report Remove and Take It Down tools. Contact the Internet Watch Foundation. KEY QUOTES FROM THIS EPISODE "Once their image is out there, you have lost control of it as a parent and as a child."  Tara Steele "Tech isn't this almighty being where no one has a right to be protected from it. Most specifically when it comes to children, it's just unjustifiable, and it really needs to change."  Tara Steele "What I am absolutely not saying is that this should be down to parents. It would never be expected for a doctor to prescribe a medication and then expect the parent to go home and research it fully and decide whether it's appropriate or dangerous for their child. We would never do that."  Tara Steele "That narrative, that we just can't do anything about it, is only correct if we decide it's correct."  Tara Steele RESOURCES FROM THIS EPISODE 🔗 Safe AI for Children - read more about AI safety for children and access Tara's guides  safeaiforchildren.org 🔗 Report Remove - UK image removal tool for under-18s via Childline  childline.org.uk 🔗 Take It Down - worldwide image removal tool  takeitdown.ncmec.org 🔗 Internet Watch Foundation - report child sexual abuse material online  iwf.org.uk 🔗 AI nudify apps - what parents need to know  safeaiforchildren.org/ai-nudify-apps-children 🔗 Advice for schools and parents on sharing children's photos online  safeaiforchildren.org/advice-for-schools-and-parents-on-sharing-childrens-photos-online 🔗 NSPCC - support for children and families  nspcc.org.uk 🔗 Childline - free confidential support for children  childline.org.uk or call 0800 1111 FINAL NOTE FROM FLORENCE This episode is dedicated to every parent navigating this alone. AI Is Already in Your 5 to 10-Year-Old's World. Here's How to Be There With Them.

If you have a child between five and ten years old, this episode is for you. AI is already in your young child's world — in their Google searches, their YouTube recommendations, their voice assistants, and their learning platforms. The question is not whether they will encounter it. The question is whether you are there with them when they do. In this episode Florence sits down with Sonny Sharma, an education leader with over ten years of classroom experience — including some of the toughest inner city schools in the UK — and a dad of three children aged six, seventeen, and twenty-one. He is living this conversation in real time, and he has thought about it more carefully than most. Sonny shares a practical five-point roadmap for parents of young children navigating AI — from how to demystify it without making it frightening, to why you should be sitting alongside your child every time they use it, to how to turn catching AI out into a game that builds healthy scepticism without fear. Florence also raises the school choice question head on. Should parents be impressed when a primary school puts AI at the centre of its pitch? Sonny's answer might surprise you. And he gives parents the exact question to ask any school about safeguarding — one that will immediately tell you whether they have genuinely thought about it. This is one of the most practical and genuinely hopeful conversations The AI Mum has had. By the end of it you will have five things you can do differently this week — without making AI feel like a threat in your home. 📋 Click here to access Sonny's Handy Guide for Parents [https://static.wixstatic.com/media/697801_b787cd5b35484d07a7c0dd9dcdaf3071~mv2.png]. "Team Member, Not Team Leader - Teaching Kids To Be Smarter Than AI"

Every day in classrooms around the world, teachers are watching students reach for AI before they have even attempted to think for themselves. Not out of laziness. Not out of malice. But because having the right answer at your fingertips in five seconds is a temptation that even adults struggle to resist. In this episode Florence sits down with Sara Refai, Head of the High School English Department at Saigon South International School and a teacher with over 15 years of experience building safe, collaborative spaces where students learn to think for themselves. Sarah is also the kind of teacher every parent wishes their child had. Together they explore one of the most urgent questions facing parents and educators right now — how do we protect our children's ability to think critically, sit with uncertainty, and find their own answers in a world where AI will always offer an easier way out? Sarah shares the classroom exercises she uses to help students see AI as a team member rather than a team leader. She reveals why teenagers' strong sense of justice is one of the most powerful tools we have in navigating AI fairly. And she is honest about the moments that frighten her most — including the growing number of teenagers forming emotional relationships with AI chatbots outside the classroom. You will also hear why failure matters more than ever, why the temptation of AI is not a moral failing but a design feature, and what parents can do right now to push for better AI education in their children's schools. This conversation will change how you talk to your child's teacher — and how you talk to your child — about AI. 🎙️ Listen on Apple Podcasts — podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-ai-mum-podcast/id1892893748 Follow on @theaimumpodcast on Instagram
