Beskrivelse

In this episode of The Architecture of Health, I talk with Coach Colin about one of the most honest and useful movement transformation stories I’ve heard. From the outside, Colin looks like one of those naturally gifted movers: powerful gait, beautiful sprint mechanics, and an easy athletic rhythm. But his story started in a very different place.Years of video games, prolonged sitting, baseball, hard training, and worsening sciatic pain eventually brought him to a point where he could barely run, had to walk away from baseball, and knew something had to change. What I love about this conversation is that it is not a simple “exercise fixed me” story. It is about pain becoming a teacher, movement becoming a study, and coaching becoming a way to help people find their own way back into better function. We talk about:• Colin’s early years of intense gaming, sitting, and back pain • The moment he first felt decompression • Losing baseball and beginning the search for answers • Why slow-motion video changed how he saw movement • Looking at the best movers instead of accepting limitation • GOATA, gait, feet, rhythm, and joint organization • Why walking on a straight line for hours actually helped • The difference between forcing a pattern and finding rhythm • Mirror work, confidence, and “sassy walking” as coaching tools • Uphill sprinting, treadmills, and learning through intensity • Why a good coach helps you become your own coach • Collaboration over competition in the movement worldThis is a conversation about chronic pain, humility, experimentation, faith in the body, and the long road from trying harder to moving better.Connect with Coach Colin:Instagram: @recodedbycolinWebsite: https://www.g8waymax.comBooks mentioned:The Way of the Samurai — on intention, discipline, and doing ordinary things with awarenessThe Inner Game of Tennis — on learning, coaching, attention, and getting the critic out of the way

Your Body is Not a Project with Amalia Maria Lee

What changes when we stop treating the body like a machine to fix and start listening to it like a living intelligence? In this conversation with Amalia Maria Lee, we explore symptoms, suffering, nervous system work, pain, hypermobility, subtle movement, and the deep restoration that can happen when we stop chasing quick fixes and begin rebuilding relationship with the body. We talk about: * Why symptoms may be communication, not just problems to erase * The difference between fixing the body and relating to the body * Why the body “tells the truth” * Pain, anxiety, and discomfort as invitations into deeper listening * Hypermobility, low tone, safety, and body trust * Why subtle work can be the work the body can actually integrate * Restoration before intensity Connect with Amalia: Instagram: @amaliamarialee Website: www.amaliamarialee.com [http://www.amaliamarialee.com/] Learn more about Deb’s work: www.movingasdesigned.com

How I Accidentally Stopped Needing Reading Glasses after 20 years

In this episode, I share the surprising story of how I stopped wearing reading glasses after nearly 20 years. This is not medical advice, and I’m not claiming I “cured” my eyes. I’m sharing a personal experiment that made me rethink how easily health seekers can stack too many “good” things: liver, eggs, raw milk, retinol skincare, high-dose supplements, fortified foods, carrot salad, and not enough fiber or elimination support. The deeper question is not whether vitamin A, traditional foods, or supplements are good or bad.The deeper question is: when does nutrient density become overload? For me, the shift came when I stopped stacking concentrated inputs, widened my food rhythm, brought back more ordinary fiber, and listened to what my body was showing me.My eyes got moist again. My hair got shiny again. And my many pairs of reading glasses stayed in the drawer. This episode is about curiosity, humility, and interrupting the spell of health ideology. The original thinker I referenced a lot is Grant Genereux whose blog is here: https://ggenereux.blog/ Mo Magnon was the influencer who gathered the data in the 87 page paper I read - his Patreon channel is https://www.patreon.com/c/mo_magnon/membership and his instagram is https://www.instagram.com/mo.magnon/

Locomotion 2 0: Head Over Foot, Coil, and Re-coil with David Weck

In this episode of The Architecture of Health, I sit down with movement visionary David Weck, inventor of the BOSU Ball, creator of WeckMethod, Rope Flow, and the upcoming ProPulse Power Vest.David shares his vision for Locomotion 2.0: restoring the timeless mechanics of human movement through head-over-foot balance, coiling core action, elastic recoil, and better relationship with gravity. We get into why walking and running are not just “falling forward,” why true balance is found in the next position, how coil and recoil create power without unnecessary strain, and why the best movement principles should work for elite athletes and regular people alike. We also dive into David’s new book, Every Step Stronger: Your Foundation for Winning at Life, and his belief that locomotion is the physical foundation for almost everything else we do.In this conversation, we explore:• Head-over-foot balance• Coil, recoil, and vertical force transmission• Why walking is more than falling and catching yourself• Rope Flow as a “Rosetta Stone” for integrated movement• The ProPulse Power Vest and spring-loaded training• Foot strategies for sprinting vs distance movement• Hypermobility, joint integrity, and tensional balance• Why “both sides utilized” matters• How better movement can be simple, powerful, and universalDavid’s work has deeply influenced how I think about gravity, rhythm, recoil, and movement education. This conversation is for anyone interested in walking, running, sprinting, fascia, athleticism, healthy aging, and reclaiming more joy and power in the body.Guest: David WeckWebsite: https://www.weckmethod.com/Book: Every Step Stronger: Your Foundation for Winning at LifeHost: Deb VoisinPodcast: The Architecture of HealthMoving As Designed: www.movingasdesigned.comWork with Deb: set up a free 10 minute phone call on my website#DavidWeck #WeckMethod #Locomotion #RopeFlow #MovementTraining #ElasticRecoil #NaturalMovement #HealthyAging #TheArchitectureOfHealth#DavidWeck #WeckMethod #Locomotion #EveryStepStronger

The Try-Harder Trap: Your Body May Need More Support, Not More Discipline.with Kate Deering

What if your body is not failing? What if the problem is not that you need more discipline, more restriction, more fasting, more exercise, or more willpower? What if your body needs more support? In this episode of The Architecture of Health, I talk with Kate Deering, author of How to Heal Your Metabolism and Better Energy, about metabolism, cellular energy, under-eating, over-exercising, stress physiology, and the ways common “healthy” habits can backfire. Kate’s work challenges the idea that healing comes from constantly pushing harder. Instead, she teaches that many people need to rebuild energy, nourishment, digestion, sleep, warmth, thyroid function, and stress resilience before the body can feel safe enough to truly repair. We talk about why eating less and exercising more is not always the answer, why your symptoms may be intelligent signals, and how to begin working with the body instead of fighting it. This conversation is for anyone who has been doing “everything right” and still feels tired, cold, stuck, inflamed, stressed, or disconnected from their body.Your body may need more support — not more discipline. Guest Bio: Kate Deering is a nutrition and exercise coach, educator, and author of How to Heal Your Metabolism and Better Energy. Her work focuses on restoring cellular energy, supporting metabolism, improving stress resilience, and helping people move away from chronic restriction, over-exercising, and the “try harder” model of health.Learn more about Kate:katedeering.com Host Bio: Hosted by Deb Voisin, founder of Moving As Designed and producer and host of The Architecture of Health podcast.Deb teaches natural movement patterns, organic alignment, elastic strength, and movement education for people who want more freedom, durability, and ownership in their bodies.Learn more:movingasdesigned.com
