Find answers to frequently asked questions about Podimo by podcasters

1. How do you pronounce Podimo?

Our name is pronounced POD-ee-mo. Emphasis on the pod. As in podcast. If you’d like to be even more confused, click here

2. How does my podcast get on Podimo?

Podimo is a free podcatcher. If your podcast is distributed via an open RSS feed, then your podcast is probably already on Podimo. Hooray! We follow industry-standard best-practice when it comes to making your podcast available on Podimo: we don’t edit in any way, we don’t rehost and we send listening data back to you or your hosting platform.

3. How does my podcast become part of Podimo’s ecosystem?

To become part of Podimo’s revenue-sharing ecosystem, you have to claim ownership of your podcast in Podimo Studio, so we know where to send the money. This is what you do:

  • Create a profile in Podcaster Studio by clicking "Create an account".

  • Click "Claim podcast".

  • Find your podcast by writing the full name/title of your podcast in the search field. Then read our Terms & Conditions and click “Claim ownership”. After this, an automated email is sent to the email address your RSS feed is linked to. If you do not receive an email – or if you do not know which email your RSS feed is linked to – please contact us here.

  • Click the verification link in the email

  • Once we have verified that this is your podcast, you receive an confirmation email from us.

You are now officially a part of Podimo’s revenue-sharing ecosystem on our non-exclusive distribution deal.

4. I want to host my podcast exclusively on Podimo. How do I do that?

If you have an existing podcast that you want to distribute exclusively on Podimo, then claim your podcast as explained above, and contact us here.

If you have a brand new podcast that you haven't released anywhere yet that you would like to distribute exclusively on Podimo, you can create the podcast directly in Podcaster Studio. To do so, follow these 4 steps:

  • Create a profile in Podimo Podcaster Studio by clicking here.

  • Click "create new podcast".

  • Fill in the fields, read our Terms & Conditions, and click "save".

  • Upload and schedule your podcast episodes for publication.

You are now on Podimo’s exclusive distribution deal, where your podcast is made available exclusively to Podimo’s Premium members. We split the revenue of your podcast 50/50, and your podcast will be curated in our app.

5. I want to claim my podcast, but I can’t find it in the Podimo app. What do I do?

If you can't find your podcast in the app, it might be because we haven't imported the feed yet. This can take a few days, from the podcast being approved in iTunes to it being visible in the app. If it takes longer than that, please contact us so we can help you fix it.

6. I get an error message when I try to create a profile in Podcaster Studio. What do I do?

If you already signed up as a user in the Podimo app and want to use the same email for your podcaster profile, your profile needs to be changed from user to podcaster. To do this, create a podcaster profile in Podcaster Studio here using the same email you used for your user profile in the app. Now, log in with the same email and password in Podcaster Studio as you do in the app.

7. I created my podcast instead of claiming it. What do I do?

If you mistakenly created your podcast instead of claiming it, contact us here and we’ll sort you out.

8. What does my RSS feed need to include for my podcast episodes to appear on Podimo?

Your RSS feed needs to comply with Podimo’s RSS feed requirements to ensure that your podcast episodes are visible in the app.

9. My podcast is not updated with the correct image-/sound files. How do I solve this?

If you are on a non-exclusive distribution deal, your feed will automatically be updated with new episodes from your host. Sometimes, however, mistakes happen and your cover art updates or your new episodes are not displayed correctly in the app - or can’t be seen at all. If this is happening to you, contact us here, and we will help you fix the bug.

10. Where can I read more about Podimo's distribution deals?

You can read more about Podimo and our distribution deals here

11. Can I have a sponsorship deal if my podcast is on Podimo?

Of course you can :) Sponsorships are allowed on both of our non-exclusive and exclusive distribution deals.

12. How does Podimo pay podcasters?

When a listener opts-in to Premium, their membership fee is shared directly and proportionally with the podcast creators they listen to in a given month. This way, Podimo listeners directly support their favorite podcasters every time they press play.

13. How much do I make if my podcast is on an exclusive deal?

By choosing the exclusive distribution deal, your podcast(s) will be curated in our app and made available exclusively to Podimo’s Premium members. In this partnership, we split the revenue that the podcast generates 50/50.

14. How much do I make if my podcast is on a non-exclusive deal?

As a non-exclusive podcast, all Podimo members will be able to find and listen to your podcast; and when Premium members listen, you get 20% of the revenue generated in a given month. This is a purely additive revenue stream - meaning you don't have to change anything about the way your podcast is hosted, distributed, or monetized anywhere else.

15. Can I have some episodes on the exclusive deal and some on the non-exclusive?

Yes you can! If that is how you want to do it, contact us here.

16. Where can I see listening data for my podcast?

When you sign up as a podcaster, you’re granted access to Podimo’s Podcaster Studio where you can see detailed listening data. The studio is currently in Beta, and we will continuously make the available data more detailed to ensure that we can provide the best possible information and feedback to the podcasters we work with. If you have not signed up yet, the listening data is made available to your hosting platform, which means that you can access your data there. However, we cannot control the level of detail in the data your host shows you, as it is up to the individual hosting platform what they choose to show their podcasters.

17. How do you define a stream?

A stream is recorded in Podimo Podcaster Studio when a listener has listened to at least 60 seconds of an episode. The same unique listener can stream multiple episodes a day.

18. How many followers do I have?

You can see how many followers you have in Podcaster Studio, and on your podcast page in the app.

19. What are ratings?

In Podcaster Studio, you can see how your podcast is rated by our users, i.e. the percentage of users who give your episodes a 'thumbs up'.

20. What does completion rate mean?

Completion Rate shows what percentage of your listeners have streamed more than 90% of a specific episode. Completion rates are calculated for the entire period from release date.

21. How do you measure daily unique listeners?

A unique listener is registered when a user presses play on an episode in your catalog. She or he is recorded once a day in the overall overview, and once a day in each episode the user listens to. Therefore, the number of total daily streams will often be a bit higher than total daily unique listeners, as most users tend to listen to a specific episode in multiple sessions/streams.

22. What if I don't want my podcast on Podimo?

If you wish to have your podcast removed from Podimo, it will be removed immediately. All you have to do is go to Podcaster Studio here and click “request removal here”.

23. Who gets the money, if a Premium user listens to an unclaimed podcast?

When a Premium user listens to an unclaimed podcast (available via the open RSS feed), the revenue that the unclaimed podcast would have generated is evenly distributed between the claimed podcasts that the user listened that month. To strengthen this revenue-sharing ecosystem, we are continuously reaching out to podcasters everywhere, encouraging them to claim their podcasts.

24. How is my podcast found by Podimo’s users?

At Podimo, we take our content curation very seriously, which is why we have both Curation Managers and AI algorithms on staff, who - based on listening patterns - make sure that all our listeners are presented with high quality podcasts relevant specifically to them.

25. Is it possible to link directly to a podcast from social media?

Yep! Use our “deep links” to link directly to podcasts and episodes on Podimo from places like websites and social media. You can find the deep links to your content in Podcaster Studio.

26. Will Podimo be launched in other countries?

You bet. And soon. If Podimo hasn’t launched yet in your country, you can sign up to be notified as soon as it does via podimo.com.

27. Which podcasters does Podimo work with?

We work with all podcasters, big and small, and our aim is to have close partnerships with all. If you are still in doubt as to whether or not Podimo is for you, or if you just want to know more about how we work, please write to us.
