Western Australia plans to shut down Collie's coal mines and power stations by 2030, replacing them with renewable energy and gas. A report by the Australian Energy Market Operator shows a power surplus for the next three years, but warns that after 2030, insufficient power will be generated to meet growing demand without further investment in renewables.
