Pharma Prescribed with Bilal Bham, CEO of Amodaia; Beyond medicine: Technology, trust and transformation

I’m Adam Walker a Biometrics consultant, and this is the Pharma Prescribed Podcast—where leaders, innovators, and hidden voices in healthcare open up. No soundbites. No spin. Just raw insight—one prescription at a time. In an industry driven by data, protocols, and pressure, we rarely pause to ask the human questions: What drives us? What breaks us? And what truths live behind the titles we wear? Bilal Bham is the Founder and CEO of Amodaia, a senior-led life science consultancy supporting biotech, pharma, and medtech teams at critical decision points across regulatory affairs, medical affairs, market access, marketing communications, and fundraising. With nearly two decades in the life sciences, Bilal works with leadership teams navigating submission milestones, funding rounds, launch preparation, and access scrutiny. His systems-thinking mindset is shaped by lived experience, including autism, family mental health and his own journey with Graves’ disease and thyroid eye disease. Bilal brings both strategic clarity and human perspective to conversations about science, strategy, and the real-world impact of healthcare innovation.

episode Pharma Prescribed with Helen Palk, Lead Practice Nurse; The Human Side of Health: A Nurse's Journey artwork

Pharma Prescribed with Helen Palk, Lead Practice Nurse; The Human Side of Health: A Nurse's Journey

Today we’re joined by Helen Palk — a nurse whose career was shaped long before she ever stepped onto a ward. Inspired by her grandmother, an army nurse caring for injured troops during the Second World War, Helen grew up surrounded by strong, compassionate women in healthcare. Her path began behind the pharmacy counter working weekends, later qualifying as a pharmacy technician. But Helen wanted to be closer to patients, and a role as a Health Care Assistant on Chichester Ward at the Royal Sussex County Hospital opened her eyes to the world of nursing. Encouraged by colleagues, she completed her Registered General Nurse training, working across urology, theatres recovery, and later progressing into Registered Midwife training. For the last nearly 30 years, Helen has served as a General Practice lead nurse in the South East of the UK — a role that draws on every skill she has earned. Her story is a testament to dedication, adaptability, and a lifelong commitment to the National Health Service. I am honoured to call Helen a friend and am delighted to welcome her on Pharma Prescribed.

Steven Thompson is someone who has spent more than two decades reshaping how clinical research actually gets done. He is the Founder of NexTrial.ai, and a leading voice at the intersection of AI, trial activation, and human centred design in healthcare. Across roles at ADM, NuBank, Takeda, and Biogen, Steven built a reputation for transforming complex, slow, legacy processes into streamlined systems that empower the people doing the work. His philosophy is simple but radical: AI shouldn’t replace humans - it should erase the maze that holds them back. At NexTrial.ai, he’s pioneering Trial Activation & Execution Intelligence that delivers zero rejection packets, faster startup, stronger compliance and a future where coordinators, physicians, and teams can operate at their highest capability. Steven brings clarity, courage, and a builder’s mindset to every conversation.

Pharma Prescribed with Amelia Wrighton, CEO & Co-Founder of Suicide & Co; Rebuilding Lives: Finding Hope After the Trauma of Suicide Loss

*A warning, that this episode discusses important but potentially difficult topics including suicide, if you are in crisis please seek professional help. Amelia Wrighton is the Co-Founder and CEO of the charity Suicide & Co. Her commitment to suicide bereavement is rooted in her lived experience, and is a powerful thread running through her work and leadership.  Amelia lost her mum to suicide at the age of 19, a moment that reshaped her life and set her on a path of advocacy, support and systemic change.  Instead of allowing that loss to remain silent, she chose to transform it into action, co‑founding the organisation, Suicide & Co in 2020, dedicated to helping people navigate the complex, often overlooked journey of bereavement by suicide. She has developed services that offer counselling, guidance and a sense of community for those who suddenly find themselves in a world that doesn’t always know how to talk about traumatic grief.  The charity has been transformative in supporting my family's grief journey to recovery, since losing my darling younger sister Naomi to suicide in September 2024 and for that I will be eternally grateful.
