The anxiety and fear at work is at peak and very very real.  In this episode we talk about growing as a leader. We go dipper into the challenges an emerging leader would face, followed by some tips to find your true self. Monica Bajaj is a seasoned engineering leader with decades of industry experience building and scaling global diverse teams across both the consumer and enterprise space. She is currently VP of Engineering at Okta . She recently served as a Technology Board member and Chief Compliance officer for Women in Localization, a global non-profit organization focused on Women mentorship and localization activities. In 2021, she won the Mentor of the year award from the WomenTech Network. In 2020 she was selected as one of the Top 60 Women technical leaders to watch by the Girl Geek X Community across fortune 500 companies. She also is an active speaker and a blogger on the topics of diversity and increasing  leadership in the workforce including the upcoming generation. [https://www.linkedin.com/in/jantunes/] In this episode we talk about their journey as they moved to Individual Contributor from management. We go dipper into the challenges during the navigation and what made them take this step. Joao is a staff software engineer at Meta, where he works on the real-time communication stack used by Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram, Portal, and the rest of the Metaverse. He started his career as an academic researcher, where he pursued a master masters and a PhD in network security. After a decade in research, Joao moved to Silicon Valley and transitioned to a software engineer role. He worked at a couple of startups in San Francisco, eventually transitioning to engineering management, and later joining Twitter as an Engineering Manager. So, Joao is now transitioning again, but this time, back to an IC role as a software engineer. About adaptUp: adaptUp started as a community to help people adapt to their new role.
