12. Serial Killer: Beverley Allitt

Over the course of only 60 days, a newly qualified 22-year old nurse injected numerous babies and young children with lethal doses of insulin and potassium chloride, resulting in a number of unexplained collapses and leaving 4 children dead and many more traumatised or with other serious life-long injuries. Beverley Allitt was thankfully apprehended, but the children’s ward, Ward 4, of Grantham and Kesteven Hospital in Grantham, Lincolnshire would be forever left tarred by her acts. But, luckily, not giving up she fought and stayed alive, helped by some strangers and managed to face the man who horrifically assaulted her. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for Roxanne Hayes due to the failings of the criminal justice system.
